Supreme Court of India Website supremecourtofindia.nic.in Down! Reason Unknown, Brazilian Hackers Suspected
Earlier this month, ten government portals including those of the crucial Defence, Home Affairs, Labour, and Law went down after an alleged hack. The websites could be restored only after six hours, subsequent to which the government issued an official statement refuting the reports of a cyberattack.
New Delhi, April 19: The official website of the Supreme Court of India supremecourtofindia.nic.inbecame inaccessibleon Thursday. The reason is still unknown. When tried to access the website, the following message appeared -- “This site can't be reached”. According to a tweet by CNN News 18, the Supreme Court of India website has been hacked by a HighTech Brazil HackTeam, which compromised hundreds of websites including some Indian websites in 2013, apparently involved in Web attack.
The website became inaccessible shortly after the top court pronounced its judgment dismissing an independent probe into judge Loya’s death and Kathau rape case. However, it is now taken off for maintenance.

On Justice Loya Death Case, the Apex Court rejected petitions for an independent investigation into Judge BH Loya case and termed them as scandalous. Judges J Kulkarni, J Barde, J Modak and JRR Rathi stated that the death of Judge Loya was "natural and unfortunate". The Supreme Court said, "Business rivalries to be resolved in market and political rivalries in the hall of democracy. It is the court's duty to protect law."
According to the data released by the Centre, the government websites were hacked on 114 occasions between April 2017 to January 2018. Reports informed that the cybersecurity department at the Prime Minister's Office said the websites were temporarily down due to "technical glitches".
However, Gulshan Rai, chief of cybersecurity in the PMO informed that there was a "hardware failure" in Drupal - the content management system or CMS of the government portals - which led to the sites going down.
