Bengaluru, July 29: Bengaluru is poised to witness the construction of a monumental 25-acre Skydeck building near NICE Road. Karnataka's Deputy Chief Minister, D.K. Shivakumar, announced on Saturday, July 27, that a consensus on the location was reached among opposition leaders and MLAs. This decision follows a meeting with the Bengaluru city legislature, during which the elected representatives, including Leader of the Opposition R. Deputy CM Shivakumar stated that the NICE Road promoters currently hold the land. According to a Supreme Court order, NICE is required to transfer around 200 acres to the government. After a long discussion with opposition party leaders and the MLA, the Karnataka government has decided to start the construction of this building on 25 acres near Nice Road. A report by the Bangalore Mirror says that discussions are planned with the organisation regarding this site. According to a Supreme Court directive, the government will reclaim 200 acres from NICE. "We have thoroughly considered all factors. Placing the Skydeck near Nice Road will offer convenient access for tourists heading to Mysore and Kodagu," added Deputy CM Shivakumar. The Skydeck is set to become the tallest building in the city, with an impressive height of 250 metres. What Is the Cost of Constructing the Skydeck?
The Skydeck project is estimated to cost INR 850 crore. It will feature a sky lobby, stunning city views, a theatre, a display hall, a VIP section, and shopping areas. According to Shivakumar, Bengaluru's lack of major tourist destinations, aside from Vidhana Soudha and Nehru Planetarium, influenced the decision to develop the Skydeck.
