Bihar, April 23: The Janata Dal (United) led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Bihar state has declared to reconstruct a grand temple of goddess Sita. The temple is proposed to be constructed at Sitamarhi, known as the birth place of Sita, wife of Ram. The reconstruction of temple will be inaugurated by Bihar CM Nitish Kumar on April 24, 2018 during the annual 'Janki festival.' April 24 is celebrated as birth anniversary of goddess Sita. Meanwhile, CM Nitish Kumar also earlier declared a public holiday immediately after Parbhat Jha, the Vice President of BJP and Member of Parliament (MP) of Rajya Sabha expressed his idea for it.

While for the proposed temple the government has already allotted 20 acres of land. Jha’s gave the idea to reconstruct a grand temple of goddess Sita, thereafter, CM Nitish Kumar went ahead and made the announcement. The existing temple compound apart from the main shrine has a wedding hall, a pond known as Sita Kund and a Shiva temple. It is spread on nearly 12 acres of land.

The April 24 event is expected to be attended by at least three lakh people. More than 150 buses are being put into service to bring pilgrims to Sitamarhi from across the country. Also, many parliamentarians and legislatures are expected to attend the event.
