The Shillong teer game is a traditional archery-based lottery game played by the people of Shillong. The lottery game also attracts people from nearby areas of Shillong and across Meghalaya. A total of eight Teer games are played twice daily from Monday to Saturday. These include Shillong Teer, Shillong Morning Teer, Shillong Night Teer, Khanapara Teer, Juwai Teer, Juwai Morning Teer, Juwai Night Teer and Jowai Ladrymbai. Shillong Teer is an archery competition that is popular among the people of Shillong and its nearby areas. A local sport of the Khasi tribe, the game involves placing bets on numbers between 0 and 99. Consisting of two rounds, Round 1 and Round 2, the competition witnesses archers shooting arrows at designated targets. The last two digits of the total number of arrows that hit the target are picked as the winning number.
