New Delhi, May 1: East and northeast India will witness widespread thunderstorm activity over the next three-four days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday has forecasted weather conditions which will prevail across the country, from thunderstorms in the northeast to heatwaves in Vidharbha and Rajasthan.
According to the IMD, a cyclonic circulation prevails over east Bihar, West Bengal and Jharkhand and a low-pressure atmosphere run from this cyclonic circulation to Manipur across Meghalaya. An east-west trough also runs from Punjab to southeast Madhya Pradesh across Haryana and west Madhya Pradesh. Thunderstorm accompanied with squall and hail is going to hit isolated places over Jammu and Kashmir, HP and Uttarakhand, whereas isolated places of West Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi and Odisha will also witness thunderstorm.
According to a report of Hindustan Times, The IMD said, “Under the influence of the above systems, scattered to widespread rainfall/thunderstorm activity is very likely over east and northeast India during the next 3-4 days,” Thunderstorms accompanied by squall, and hail is “very likely” on Wednesday at isolated places in Bihar, Odisha, West Bengal, Jharkhand and the seven northeastern states. On Wednesday, thunderstorms accompanied with squall are likely at isolated places over Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha, while thunderstorms with gusty winds may hit isolated places in Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Jharkhand.
Heatwave conditions likely to prevail over some parts of Vidarbha and West Rajasthan, West Madhya Pradesh, Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada. Especially Vidharbha will be hit by heat waves continuously for three days till May 5. Fishermen are also cautioned not to venture into the sea along the coastal areas of west Bengal and Odisha
