Mumbai, February 8: A man has been arrested in Andheri in connection with creating a fake profile of Sachin Tendulkar’s daughter, Sara Tendulkar on Twitter. Nitin Shisode, 39 has been charged with for impersonation, cheating and defamation under IPC and the IT Act. The fake account of Sara by the name @sarasachin_rt had uploaded a lot of defamatory comments against NCP chief Sharad Pawar and also other controversial political views. A complaint had been lodged by Sachin’s assistant to the cyber police.

The police arrested Nitin from Marol in Andheri and seized a laptop, two mobile phones, a router and other computer accessories which were used by him. The man deals in second-hand laptops and mobile phones. The accused had been traced for since October. One of the tweets against NCP chief had gone viral and it created trouble. He is now been remanded custody till February 9.

Sara is currently studying in London and is not even closely interested in politics, so the account was definitely fake. Sachin himself was shocked to see this fake account to be thought of a real one. He had made clear many times, it was a fake account and the accused has finally been caught. Meanwhile, Nitin’s advocate says that he has been implicated. "My client deals in second-hand computers and laptops. Though he told the police that somebody who bought a laptop from him may have uploaded the derogatory remarks, the police refused to listen and arrested him," he said to Mumbai Mirror. The cops will now be sending the laptop to forensic experts to gain more details about the user.

“We have registered a case against unknown person under section 419 (Cheating by personation), 420 (cheating), 500 (Defamation), 66 C (Identity theft) 66D (Cheating by personation by using computer resource) of the Indian Penal Code and Information Technology (Amendment) Act, 2008,” said a police official from the Cyber Cell.
