Gurugram, May 21: The Gurugram district court on Monday delivered its verdict in the Ryan International school murder case. The court in its order said that the juvenile- the prime accused in the sensational murder case to be tried as an adult. The judgement was delivered by the judge named Jasbir Singh Kundu Today. The heart-wrenching case of the eight-years-old school boy named Pradhyuman Thakur of Ryan International school, who was killed in the school toilet grabbed much media attention, raising finger on School authority earlier.
The court’s order is said to be important because the accused can now be tried and convicted as an adult. He will face severe punishment. Earlier, Judge Kundu had given the CBI one week's additional time to file the supplementary chargesheet in the case. The family of the accused had moved the court alleging that the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) had given its approval to try the 16-year-old as an adult even before the completion of the probe by the CBI.
The JJB had in December last year ruled the accused, a Class 12 student, will be tried as an adult in the case. The board had in its order observed that the crime committed by the 16-year-old was heinous, chilling, horrific and severe. Besides, it also cited that the circumstances show the teenager was mature enough to understand the consequences of his act.
According to CBI's investigation, the accused had murdered the eight-year-old boy to defer a unit test and to schedule a parent-teacher meeting. The kid was found with a slit throat on the ground floor washroom on September 8 morning last year. Also, due to mounting pressure from parents and media, the police initially arrested a school bus conductor, identified as Ashok Kumar, but he was granted bail after no evidence was found against him. The case was later handed over to the CBI on September 22, and the Class 12 student was found to be the prime accused in the case. After that, he was taken into custody on November, last year.
