Nearly two years ago, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced demonetisation of Rs 1000 and Rs 500 currency notes, which amounted to 86 per cent of currency in circulation. This move from PM Modi was as an attack on counterfeit notes, black money and a push to promote digitisation and non-cash payments. The demonetisation spell was quite severe as it disrupted the normal life of people for several weeks. But after the currency-scrapping exercise, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) issued new Rs 2,000 and Rs 500 currency notes and the spell went on with Rs 10 Rs 50, Rs 100, and Rs 500. Meanwhile, the RBI has recently said that soon, a new currency note of Rs 20 will be issued. New Rs 10 Currency Note in Chocolate Brown Colour to be Issued by RBI.

Currency notes brought to circulation in 2018:
New Rs 10 note
The new Rs 10 currency note was issued by RBI on 5 January 2018. The newly redesigned note was an addon with a previous Rs 10 note. The chocolate brown note was issued in Mahatma Gandhi series and had Konark Sun temple at its back. Dimensions of new Rs 10 note is 123mm X 63mm.
New Rs 100 note
The new Rs 100 note was issued this year on July 19. The lavender coloured note carries the motif of Rani Ki Vav (The Queen's Stepwell- a UNESCO World Heritage site) on its back. The new note is smaller, 142mm X 66mm, than existing 100 rupee note which is 157mm X 73mm.
New Rs 20 Note
RBI recently announced to launch a redesigned Rs 20 note. Soon an official announcement will be made by Shaktikant Das, who joined as the new RBI Governor, of an all-new Rs 20 note, reported PTI.

New Rs 50 note
The fluorescent blue Rs 50 currency note was issued by RBI on August 18, 2017. The new Rs 50 note measures 135mm X 66mm and had Hampi with Chariot at its back.
New Rs 200 note
The new Rs 200 note was introduced by the central bank on August 25, 2017. The bright yellow colour note has a motif of Sanchi Stupa on the reverse on the backside. The bright yellow colour note measures at 146 mm x 66 mm.
New Rs 500 note
The new Rs 500 note was issued just after the demonetisation on November 10, 2016. The Stone grey note features a motif of Red Fort, and the logo and a tagline of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. The currency note measured 66mm x 150mm.
New Rs 2000 note
The new 2,000 Rupee note was issued as a replacement to demonetised Rs 1000 note. The Magenta coloured note has Mangalyaan on its reverse side while Mahatma Gandhi on its front. Similar to Rs 500 note, it also has a logo and tagline for Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. RBI to Introduce New Rs 20 Note, Currency to Have Additional Features.
Meanwhile, there are reports that RBI is likely to introduce new Rs 20 note. The new 20-rupee note will have additional features compared with the existing currency note, Press Trust of India reported. According to RBI data, the Rs 20 notes account for about 9.8 per cent of the total currency in circulation as of March 2018.
