Hyderabad, July 3: A permanent website of Real Estate Regulatory Authority (Rera) for Telangana is finally set to be launched on August 1, as per a news report in Times of India. The state has appointed a temporary regulatory authority to keep a watch on builders and developers. However, the report mentions that the Rera rules have not yet been implemented in the state since there was no website where the developers, builders and agents could register themselves or where the buyers could make complaints against the real estate firms.

To develop the web portal, the Telangana state’s municipal administration has signed an agreement with the Mahaonline Ltd. In a joint venture between the Maharashtra government and TCS, the Rera portal for Telangana will be developed and maintained for next three years from the day it's been launched. “The trial run has already begun for the Rera web portal and it will become functional on August 1,” said MA& UD principal secretary Arvind Kumar in the reports.

Apart from registration, the site will also be linked to GPS, enabling people to track the location of the real estate project they are interested in investing. The MA& UD department has already issued orders on the registration charges that will go to the web portal operators.“For real estate projects or development projects, the developers have to pay Rs. 750 and real estate agents Rs. 500 towards one-time registration charges apart from other fees. The amount will directly go to Mahaonline for maintenance of the website,” MA& UD officials said.

As per the reports, once the site is made operational, about 4, 000 permissions that were granted from January 1, 2017 are expected to be registered, which will provide transparency of their entire workings with project details. Inspired by Maharashtra, which has successfully implemented the Rera and managed to bring 16, 000 real estate firms under one roof, the Telangana government has also decided to follow in the state's footsteps.
