Mumbai, April 27: Railway Minister Piyush Goyal appreciated Indian Army. In a letter written by Railway minister Piyush Goyal to the Indian Army’s Bombay Engineering Group and Centre (BEG&C) based in the city, the minister appreciated the force for constructing three Foot-over-bridges in Mumbai suburbs in three months, The Times of India reported, quoting a senior army officer on Tuesday.
As per TOI’s report, In the letter, the minister especially appreciated the leadership of the centre’s commandant Brigadier Dhiraj Mohan, who headed the project. In the letter, Goyal not only appreciated the Indian Army but also suggested the railway authorities to adopt the ethics of the force.
A senior army officer said, developing synergy with several civil agencies and private contractors was the main challenge, reported TOI. The officer further added, “Within a short span of time, we could develop a healthy rapport with these agencies and accomplish our deadline.”
Three foot-over-bridges - Elphinstone Road-Parel, Currey Road and Ambivli station were constructed by the Indian Army. After the death of 23 people in a stampede at Elphinstone Road station on September 29, The army was assigned a task to undertake the construction of the bridges. The work on the bridges was completed in a record time of 117 days.
