Punjab, May 29: After a jail inmate named Gobind Singh from Punjab's Faridkot shot a video and circulated it on WhatsApp, questions are being raised about how the inmates got an access to the mobile phone inside the jail when the premises is cordoned-off. In the alleged video, the accused threatened to kill Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh for taking a false pledge to end corruption and his fight against drug peddling.

The jail inmate accused of murder charges is also a drug peddler; he asked the Congress leader and CM Amarinder Singh to aplogise for undertaking a 'false pledge' on December 15, 2015 --  the day when he was sworn-in as CM of Punjab in his video. The inmate in his video also alleged that narcotics were available inside the prison. Meanwhile, he also asked the prison authorities to show some respect to the Guru Granth Sahib (the community saint).

The three-minute long video shot by the inmate, threatening the CM,  went viral on WhatsApp,  with some people putting it up on video-sharing websites, the police said. While the jail authorities came across the video on Sunday, after which the phone was recovered from the prisoner.

In addition, the jail officials  wrote to the district police on Monday, and the FIR was registered. Deputy superintendent of the jail, Iqbal Singh Brar, said, “When we received input about the mobile phone active in the jail, immediately we conducted a search and recovered the phone.”

The inmate in the video has said, "Your (Punjab CM) days are numbered as the countdown has begun." He further added that the Akal Purakh (Almighty God) had tasked him with this job to teach them a lesson.
