Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the most ‘liked’ world leader on Facebook according to a global report titled ‘World Leaders on Facebook’. PM Modi has 43.2 million likes on Facebook. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has the biggest adoring and 'liking' audience on Facebook, with more than 43.2 million page likes, almost double than what U.S. President Donald Trump who has 23.1 million page likes on his personal Facebook page.
When it comes to the interaction rate and the total number of interactions, Prime Minister Modi clocks an impressive second behind President Trump. He is comfortably ahead of third placed Widodo and other leaders on the list including Argentinian President Macri, Trudeau and Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta.
In an interesting aspect, the top five photos on Facebook shared by world leaders are all Prime Minister Modi's. The most popular photo shared by a world leader on Facebook in 2017 was Prime Minister Modi's photo at Odisha's Lingaraj Temple. Along with the photo, PM Modi wrote- "Prayed at the Lingaraj Temple in Bhubaneswar. The magnificence of the Temple and Temple Complex leaves a lasting impression on the mind."
The first world leader to have his own Facebook page was Former US President Barack Obama. Obama had set up his Facebook page in March 2007, when he was Governor of Illinois.
New Zealand’s new Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern is also on the list. The 37-year-old politician has become the “most loved” world leader as 14 percent of her Facebook interactions are love hearts sent by her followers. The phenomena of hearts being sent to New Zealand Prime Minister has led to a hashtag Down Under known as #JacindaMania.
