Priest of Hanuman Temple in Ajmer Rapes 7-Year-Old Girl! Booked Under POCSO, Sent to Jail

Ajmer, April 28: In another shocking incident of brutality, a 7-year-old girl was allegedly raped by the priest of Ajmer's Kalichat Temple on Wednesday night. Reports inform that the priest has been booked under the POCSO Act and has been sent to jail by a local court on Friday. According to details by Police, a case under the provisions of Protection of children from sexual offence Act has been registered against the priest.

The priest has been identified as Swami Shivanand alias Balwant. The 49-year old priest was arrested under section 151 of the CrPC, but later after the medical reports of the victim, the police booked him under the POCSO (Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences) Act.

According to a report by TOI, the minor girl had gone to the Kalichat Hanuman Temple, located on the Kalyanipura Hills on the outskirts of Ajmer. She had gone there to gather the family's livestock when Swami Shivanand alias Balwant tricked her into the temple. Reports inform that the minor was was then allegedly raped by the priest and left unconscious in a room.

The incident came into light after the girl's father, who came looking for her, found the minor in the empty room. Narrating the ordeal, the girl informed about the brutal rape to her parents. The parents later informed the Police. "We have arrested the priest and the minor has been moved to a hospital for treatment and medical examination," Ajmer SP Mahendra Singh was quoted by TOI. As per details by locals, the priest belonged to Madhya Pradesh and has been the priest of the Kalichat temple for the last 10 years.
