Shimla, May 20: President Ram Nath Kovind arrives in Shimla on Sunday. The President who is on a six-day visit was given a ceremonial guard of honour on arrival. He will stay at President’s Retreat in Charabra and will be accompanied by his family members.

The President was received by Governor Acharya Devvrat at Kalyani Helipad, located near The Retreat. Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, top military officials and senior police officers were also present at the helipad to receive the president. The governor will host a dinner party for the President later in the day.

On May 21, Kovind will attend the annual convocation of Dr YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry. He will award degrees to 470 students. Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur and cabinet ministers will also meet the President on the same day. On Tuesday, an ‘At Home’ ceremony will be held at the President’s Retreat. The state government will also organise a function to honour him at Peterhoff hotel. In 2017, when Kovind was Governor of Bihar was not allowed to enter President’s Retreat as he had no prior permission from the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
