Mumbai, October 29: Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) will see the launch of health insurance coverage for all senior citizens aged 70 and over, irrespective of income, by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This initiative, honouring Dhanvantari Jayanti and the 9th Ayurveda Day, was announced last month to provide better healthcare access for seniors.

Prime Minister Modi shared on his X account the announcement of the PMJAY launch, stating, "Tomorrow, at approximately 12:30 PM on Ayurveda Day, we will either launch significant healthcare initiatives or lay their foundation stones. Eligibility Criteria For Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana?

 

  • The applicant must be a permanent resident of India and at least 70 years of age.
  • The scheme is currently being rolled out in 33 states and Union Territories, except Delhi, Odisha, and West Bengal.
