Patna, June 25: It seems that the minor boy who was arrested in Patna and sent to jail for allegedly refusing free vegetables to cops is set to get justice. Patna zone IG has said to news agency ANI that two police inspectors, as well as the 9-member raid party, have been suspended and departmental action has been taken against Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) with a show cause notice issued against him. Informing further, he added that the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) has been directed to investigate the case once again. The statement by the IG came on Monday and was issued to news agency ANI:

He also said that the required action to rehabilitate the boy has been taken adding that a medical board has been formed to determine the boy's actual age. Speaking on the topic, the IG said that, "It has been directed to shift him from Beur jail to remand home. Medical board to be constituted to establish his actual age. Entire staff at Agamkuan Police Station sent to district lines. "

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday, June 21 had ordered a high-level inquiry into the reports of a 14-year-old boy having been arrested in Patna and sent to jail three months ago, allegedly on trumped-up charges upon his refusal to give vegetables to local policemen for free. A huge public outrage was expressed after the report of the boy getting arrested was reported by local media which soon became a national news and prompted Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to order a probe into the case.
