New Delhi, Mar 20: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) is conferring the prestigious Padma awards on a total of 85 personalities, including legendary musician Ilayaraja, former Indian cricket team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni and senior Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh ideologue P Parameswaran, among others. Awards for all the three categories of service - Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri - is being awarded by the President.

Apart from known names, the list compiled by the MHA also includes the lesser-known personalities, whose works have immensely benefited the society. They include a 99-year-old freedom fighter, a 75-year-old tribal woman who prepares herbal medicines to negate the effect of snake bites, among others.
