Nude Sunbathing at Sinhagad Fort Gets Pune Man into Trouble
From the details, it looks like a case of drunken activity than a sunbathing session.
The winters have gone and the sun is coming up. And while we crib about the harsh sun on our heads, we all know of little Vitamin D is necessary for our body. In an attempt to sunbathe, a Doordarshan staffer was arrested from Pune's Sinhagad fort. A man named Lateef Saiyad was spotted lying naked by Members of the Rashtrashakti Samajik Sanghatana, who were conducting a cleanliness drive on the fort. Trekker, Swapnil Jambhale has registered a case against him for continuing to indulge in the act despite being asked to put on clothes.
Saiyad has been booked under Section 295-A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for conducting deliberate and malicious acts intending to outrage religious feelings, insulting religion or religious beliefs and Section 509 for insulting the modesty of women by making gestures. He was apparently drunk too, as there were liquor bottles near him. Jambhale while talking to mid-day said, "Around 15 of us, including women, members were trekking and cleaning the fort, when we noticed that at the Doordarshan Kendra room, there was a man seated in the nude with empty bottles of liquor kept beside him. He was also asking someone to come and clean his back."
When Saiyad was asked to put some clothes on, he refused and said he had come there on doctor's advice. He even engaged in a fight and abused the people. He said it was a private property, but the corridor in which he sat was very much open and visible to the public. Then someone took a video of him and it did not take time to go viral!
Senior inspector Vishwambar Golde said, "It seems that he had sat there to get Vitamin D on doctor's advice. As the video went viral, we got a lot of calls, and in order to avoid any issues we contacted the person who had shot the video and registered the complaint." A detailed inquiry into the matter is being conducted and he will be produced in court soon.
From the details, it looks like a case of drunken activity than a sunbathing session. While sunbathing has its advantages, one should always be careful where they are engaging in the activity.
