Navrang Studio: Fire Breaks Out in Mumbai's Lower Parel Area, 1 Fire Officer Injured

In the wee hours of January 18, a major fire broke out at the Navrang Studio in Lower Parel. It is the same industrial complex area of Central Mumbai where one of the city’s worst fire incidents, Kamala Mills fire accident had taken place recently. At 1 am on Thursday night, the fourth floor of dilapidated Navrang Studio was engulfed in huge flames as witnessed. Kamala Mills Fire: Bhoiwada Court Sends Owners Of 1 Above & Mojo's Bistro To Judicial Custody Till January 31.

As soon as reports of the fire were conveyed to the fire brigade, around 12 vehicles arrived at the spot located in Todi Mill Compound at Senapati Bapat Marg and began operations to douse the flame. There were eight fire engines, seven tankers and an ambulance in service. There are no causalities or injuries reported from the site. However, a fire officer is said to have been injured dousing the flames. Further details from the studio complex are awaited.

"This building has not been functional for nearly 20 years now. The fire broke out on the fourth floor of the building. Operations are still underway," Deputy Chief Fire Officer R Chaudhary told reporters here. “The studio building is old, unoccupied and precious,” the official was quoted saying to news agency PTI. He further added the cause of the fire to be unknown so far. It is said the complex that has been shut years ago is poor condition and can collapse at any time.
