Rohtak, April 7: A national-level Karate champion Neha Jangra beat up a Haryana traffic constable in Rohtak. The constable who was identified as Yaseen tried to harass Neha on a shared auto-rickshaw on Thursday evening. According to a report published in the Times of India, Rohtak Superintendent of Police Pakanj Nain said that the police constable was charged with sexual harassment. Yaseen was suspended from the duty and was arrested.

The 21 year-old karate champion represented Haryana at 10th national Level open Karate Championship 2017 held in Marmagao, Goa. Neha had won gold medal in the championship. The incident took place when Neha was going home after her karate classes around 7pm in an auto-rickshaw. The cop boarded the same auto-rickshaw. He started harassing her. Neha immediately realised his malign intentions and thrashed him by pushing Yaseen to the corner of the auto.

Neha told the Times of India, ” Instead of being wary of his position as a policeman, he immediately asked me for my phone number. When I refused, he targeted me and said he was asking for friendship only and there was nothing wrong. This infuriated me and I thrashed him twice and pushed him to the corner of the auto so that he could not escape.”

With the help of auto-rickshaw driver she took him to the nearest women’s police station. To her surprise instead of filing a case, woman Station House Officer (SHO) instead of registering the case tried to conciliate the matter. Speaking to the Times of India the national level karate champion said, “To my surprise, the woman SHO, inspector Sunita Devi asked me to not escalate the matter and offered to humiliate the cop for sexually harassing me in uniform.”

Neha’s father Suresh Jangra rushed to the police station after SHO refused to file the case. The lady SHO tried to mediate from Yaseen’s side. Finally a case under IPC Section 354 was registers against the constable.
