Narendra Modi Inaugurates Newly-Constructed Jagdalpur Airport in Bastar via Video Conference

Reports inform that all arrangements for the live telecast of the event have been made at Jagdalpur, the divisional headquarters of Bastar. The inauguration today will mark the beginning of Raipur-Jagdalpur-Vishakhapatnam air service.

Bastar, June 14:  Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday inaugurated the newly-constructed Jagdalpur Airport in Bastar, marking tribal Bastar in India’s aviation map. A visually impaired student named Guruwari will be on-board the first flight which will take off from Jagdalpur, ANI reported. The Prime Minister will inaugurate the airport through video conferencing, despite being on a visit to the state today.

PM Modi arrived at the Swami Vivekanand Airport in Raipur this morning on a day-long visit to the state. Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister inaugurated the Integrated Command and Control Centre in Naya Raipur and held a road show in Chhattisgarh's Bhilai. He was accompanied by Chief Minister Raman Singh while inaugurating the command and control centre.

The Prime Minister also dedicated the modernised and expanded Bhilai Steel Plant to the nation on Thursday. Talking about Naya Raipur, he said Naya Raipur has become the country's first greenfield smart city where water, electricity, street lights, sewage, transport and security of the city all will be managed from this centre. He said this will be an example for smart cities across the country.

During his address, PM Modi said Bhilai did not only make steel, but also lives and society and the country. This new modern steel plant will now help develop new India. He said earlier where there were no roads, now airports are being constructed along with roads.
