Pune, May 26: A day after the arrest of two suspects Advocate Sanjeev Punalekar and Vikram Bhave from Mumbai, the Pune Sessions Court on Sunday sent them to CBI custody till June 1. Both these suspects were presented in the court on Sunday by the CBI officials.
Earlier, probing the matter, the Central Bureau of Investigation on Saturday arrested advocate Sanjeev Punalekar and Vikram Bhave from Mumbai. Previously in December 2018, the bench had granted bail to the accused Amol Kale, Rajesh Bangera and Amit Degvekar. This was done as CBI failed to file charge sheet against them within the stipulated 90-day period.
The case relates to the murder of activist Narendra Dabholkar, who was shot by bike-borne assailants while returning home from a morning walk on August 20, 2013. Dabholkar was the founder of the Maharashtra Andhashraddha Nirmoolan Samiti (MANS) and was vocal against right-wing extremism.
