Mumbai, January 28: In a shocking incident, a 32-year-old man lost his life after he got sucked into an Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machine while helping his ailing relative into the scan room. The deadly incident took place at Mumbai’s Nair hospital on Saturday when the Rajesh Maru- the deceased was taking his relative to an MRI room but himself got sucked into an MRI machine due to its magnetic force. As per reports, Maru was holding the oxygen cylinder which was helping his relative breathe.

In wake of the deadly incident, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakhs for family of the victim Rajesh Maru. As per reports by ANI, one ward boy who had given the oxygen cylinder containing metal to Rajesh Maru suspended by hospital Dean. A FIR has been registered against Doctor Siddhant Shah, ward boy Vitthal Chavan & one lady ward attendant Sunita Surve under Section 304 A (causing death by negligence). CCTV footage of the incident has been handed over to the police by hospital authorities for further investigation.

BJP lawmaker MP Lodha has demanded compensation and stern action against those responsible for Maru's tragic death. Maru’s family members along with local people and MP Lodha protested inside dean's cabin and demanded immediate action against the culprit & compensation.

Reports state that no security guard was present to tell Maru that he should not carry oxygen cylinder with him to MRI room. The victim’s family alleges that their relative died at Nair Hospital due to negligence by hospital staff on Saturday after he was admitted inside MRI room with an oxygen tank. An FIR is registered with Agripada police station against the Nair hospital authorities under Section 304 of IPC, confirmed Deputy Police commissioner (zone 3), Virendra Mishra.
