Mumbai, July 6: Search operation was underway on Friday for the boys who went missing in the sea in Juhu on Thursday. Five boys had gone missing from near Juhu Chowpatti yesterday evening. While one of them was found dead last night, the body of another was found by search teams on Friday morning. One of the boys was rescued by life guards after the incident on Thursday itself.

According to the BMC Disaster Control, the incident occurred around 5.30 pm on Thursday when the five youth had gone for a swim despite the waters in the sea being rough due to bad weather.

They were reportedly swept away by huge waves in the sea. Wasim S Khan, 22, who was saved by a life guard, told the police that he and his friends had jumped into the sea for a swim near the Godrej Bungalow area.

The missing teenagers have been identified as Fardeen Saudagar, Sohail S. Khan, Nazir Gazi and Faisal Sheikh, all aged 17. All of them are residents of DN Nagar in Andheri West.

The BMC has called in for help from Fire Brigade, Indian Navy and other agencies for the rescue operation.

This incident comes at a time when a similar case of teens venturing out to enjoy turning into tragedy in Thailand has made headlines. The group of 12 children aged between the 11 and 16 years, along with their football coach, had gone for an outing in the Tham Luang Nang Non caves in the northern province after a football game on June 23. But a heavy downpour of rain trapped them inside the caves. It took about 10 days for rescuers to locate them and a rescue operation is underway to get them out of the caves.
