Mumbai, May 9: Mumbaikars, particularly those in Koliwada and Colaba, are advised to brace for an eight-hour water cut this Saturday, May 11. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has announced that essential repair work on a major water channel on Jeevan Bima Road will suspend the water supply from 3:30 PM to 11:30 PM.
The disruption is due to urgent repairs on a 1200 mm diameter water channel, compromised by a leak caused by the ongoing Metro 3 construction activities. The leak, located near the Mantralaya Building on Jeevan Bima Road, was detected following reports of low water pressure and reduced supply in A Ward. In response to the situation, the BMC's emergency repair department has conducted a thorough assessment and determined that immediate action is required to prevent further water wastage and the risk of road flooding. The repair process, including excavation and fixing the leak, is scheduled to begin at 9:00 AM and is expected to last approximately 7 to 8 hours.
