Mumbai, April 15: Traffic came to a standstill in parts of the western suburb in Mumbai earlier on Sunday after one of the prime roads connecting Malad to Goregaon was blocked. Vehicular operation was halted on the SV Road after a grider along with a crane collapsed at MTNL bridge during the ongoing construction work.

In a bid to resolve the inconvenience caused to people, the Mumbai Traffic Police pushed an immediate circular on social media, recommending motorosits to use alternative routes while travelling to and fro from Malad to Goregaon today.

The routes suggested by the Mumbai Traffic Police were Sainath Subway-Mrinal Tai Gore bridge for travelling in East-West direction. The Vasari hill route, Chincholi road and Prem Nagar road were suggested as alternatives for travelling to and fro from Malad to Goregaon.

The work was initiated by the Mumbai traffic police personnel to ensure the SV Road path near MTNL bridge is cleared to allow vehicular movement to resume.

Much to the respite of traffic police and motorists, the impact of the road blockage was minimal as most establishments and workplaces remain closed today. The traffic snarl at SV Road was bound to be a major inconvenience if the road would had turned dysfunctional on a weekday.
