Mumbai, June 25: Incessant rains lashed several parts of Mumbai on Monday, crippling normal life in the city.  Two people were killed and five others were injured after a tree fell on them at MG road, near Metro Cinema in Mumbai on Sunday.  Due to heavy rainfall between Thane and Byculla stations, trains on Up and Down lines running late by 15-20 minutes, ANI tweeted.

The Mumbai Police informed that subways in Andheri, Khar and Malad were water-logged, leading to slow-moving traffic. Reports inform that a container broke down on a bridge on the Eastern Express Highway which led to massive traffic in that area.

Meanwhile, due to water-logging in various areas, Mumbai's civic body officials placed pumps on standby in neighbourhoods that are prone to water-logging.

According to IMD forecast, continuous rains and thundershowers will hit the city and suburbs today with some areas experiencing heavy to very heavy rains. According to IMD, Mumbai saw heavy rainfall with suburban Malad (west) recording the highest amount of rainfall at 110.80 mm between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm on Sunday. Powai received 77.80 mm of rainfall and Mulund with 76 mm rainfall, during the same period stood second and third respectively, the IMD official said.
