Heavy downpour on the first day of Monsoon has disrupted life in Mumbai. At least 3 deaths have been reported, apart from massive traffic snarls, train delays and road cave-ins. For the next 24 hours, the IMD has issued an 'orange alert', which signals heavy to very heavy rainfall.
In the last 24 hours, the Santacruz Observatory in Mumbai has recorded 229.8mm rainfall, whereas, the neighbouring city of Thane has received 231.4mm.
Rain appears to have slowed down. Up Trains on Central Railway line are running late by 10 min (which is normal), down trains mostly on time. Water receded at Matunga, Sion, and Kurla tracks. Stay tuned for more updates.
37-year-old woman admitted to hospital in a critical condition after wall of an under construction building collapsed at around 4.45 am today, on Vidyalankar road in Wadala's Antop Hill, following heavy rain. FIR has been registered against the builder in the case, news agency ANI reported.

26 flights have been delayed following the heavy downpour in Mumbai. Reports of waterlogging from various parts of the city have been reported after heavy rains in the past 24 hours. The Indian Meteorological Department has predicted more rainfall in the next 24 hours.

Mumbai, June 25: Monsoon has arrived in Mumbai and with full force. Sunday night and Monday morning saw heavy downpour which resulted into waterlogging at several places. Malad received maximum rainfall on Sunday (110.8mm). Flight operations were affected due to the heavy shower and media reports said that train services were affected too.
Disaster Management Unit of Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai has been issuing alerts about traffic situation in Mumbai at various places. Colaba recorded 90 mm & Santacruz recorded 195 mm of rain at 5.30 am, heavy to very heavy rain to continue said the Indian Meteorological Department. There is some water accumulation at Sion due to continuous rains but trains are running on all three lines of Central Railway (Mainline, Harbour and Trans-harbour) with a delay of 5-7 minutes-Central Railway as per the latest reports.
