Mumbai, June 25: Normal life in Mumbai came to a standstill after the city was lashed with incessant rainfall on Monday. In wake of the ongoing turmoil caused by rainfall in the city, rain-related incidents have been reported from several parts. In a fresh incident, a 15 year- old has been killed after a compound wall collapsed in Vadalgaon in Ulhasnagar.

On Sunday, two people died and five were injured after a tree fell on them near Metro Cinema at MG Road in South Mumbai's Marine Lines area. The heavy downpour has resulted in water-logging in some parts of the city due to which train services have been hit. The Indian Meteorological Department has said that heavy to very heavy rains were expected to continue.

As per details by IMD Mumbai Director Ajay Kumar, Mumbai has received 231.4 mm rain in the last 24 hours. So much rainfall is categorised as extremely heavy showers. "This is the first extremely heavy rainfall recorded in Mumbai in the current season. The rain intensity has gone up since yesterday afternoon and is expected to continue further," he was quoted by PTI.

Earlier in the day, a compound wall in a Mumbai's Wadala area collapsed and took with it at least seven vehicles while several cars were stuck in debris. Reports inform that BMC and the fire officials have vacated an entire wing of the building to prevent any mishap.
