Mumbai, June 5: A major mishap was averted after a Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus(CSTM) bound local train from Badlapur skipped the Mulund station halt. According to a news report in The Mumbai Mirror, as the local train skipped the station, commuters who were standing on the door had to be pulled back by other passengers. The passengers could have fallen down as the train picked up the speeds. The Central Railway has instructed a probe into the incident.

An eyewitness of the incident said, "Many passengers were standing right at the coach entrances, waiting to jump out. Fortunately, there was no untoward incident.”

Speaking on the incident, a Central Railway official said, “The guard stopped the train only a few coaches ahead of the stop mark after realising that it had missed the halt." On the contrary, the commuters claimed that the guard stopped the train only when they pulled the emergency chain.

Amid the panic situation, the next railway station saw a massive crowd of commuters getting down subsequently.
