It is indeed a great effort by the Indian Army to complete the construction of these bridges in such little time. The government will have to be pro-active in ensuring the upkeep of these and other foot over bridges in Mumbai and conduct regular audits.

The Indian Army has built foot over bridges (FOB) in Elphinstone Road, Currey Road and Ambivili in record time and given Mumbaikars and Western, Central Railway passengers a gift before Holi 2018.

The Ministry of Railways had joined hands with Ministry of Defense for the construction of these bridges and the Indian Army completed the foot overs in record time. The bridges will provide great relief to the commuters who have to jostle for space while entering or exiting the stations.

The Railways congratulated the braveheart Indian Army for completing the project in record time and appreciated the efforts put in by the soldiers

The foot over bridge (FOB) at Elphinstone Road will help Central Railway commuters working in commercial hubs on the north of Elphinstone Road have direct access and similarly there will be a direct exit/access towards west side phool  (flower) market.

The Elphinstone - Parel FOB will also provide convenience for flower & fish vendors of nearby markets during wee hours.

FOB at Currey Road is 30 metres long and 3.5 mtrs wide and has been constructed by Indian Army at the CSMT end from Platform to East side

The new 30 metres long and 3.5 mtrs wide FOB constructed by Indian Army at Currey Road (CSMT end) from platform to east side. It will provide additional entry/exit of island platform from east side and reduce congestion on existing entries.

A new 20 metres long & 3.5 metres wide FOB at Ambivali is constructed by Indian Army connecting both platforms in less than four months. This additional FOB will help to reduce the congestion on existing FOB and platforms

Ambivali FOB is a connecting platform no 1 & 2 on Kasara end; it will help to reduce the congestion on existing FOB and platforms

It is indeed a great effort by the Indian Army to complete the construction of these bridges in such little time. The Mumbai Railway has described these bridges as "A true tribute to those who lost their lives in the Elphinstone stampede last year, Railways instead of VVIPs has picked common people to inaugurate three FOBs today." But the government will have to be pro-active in  ensuring the upkeep of these and other foot over bridges in Mumbai and conduct regular audits to avoid Elphinstone Road like incident in future.
