Bhopal, March 27: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has ordered an inquiry in the killing of journalist Sandeep Sharma, who was run over by a truck and the whole event was caught live on CCTV camera. The video shows how the truck knocked down journalist Sandeep Sharma who was riding a bike in Bhind area of Madhya Pradesh when he was run down by the truck.

Chouhan had assured of strict action as soon as the video and report of jounalist's killing went viral and said, "Security of journalists is our priority and strict action will be taken against the culprit."

Sandeep Sharma was a journalist with a national news channel and was investigating stories related to the Sand Mafia in Bhind and other locality. There were reports in the media that the journalist had informed the police earlier that there was a threat to his life. In fact, he had alleged that a police officer was also involved with the sand mafias and had told the police about it.

The driver of the truck who was driving at the time of the accident has been arrested and has reportedly told police that the journalist was killed because he (truck driver) was trying to save a woman who was on the road.

The pressure on the Shivraj government was building up after this incident. Cases of excesses committed by sand mafias had been reported from the state of Madhya Pradesh earlier as well.
