Mumbai, June 03: The people living in the Mumbai were in a jubilant mood as the pre-monsoon showers in the city, on Saturday, were quite a relief. After a prolonged spell of scorching heat, the city received its first rainfall of the season, and their happiness knew no bounds. People took on different social media platforms to express their happiness and their love for the first rain of the season, even if it was of a mild nature. However, things are only going to get better (or worse, we can say?), hereon!
Yes, you read it right! As per the Skymet Weather forecast, the rains in the Mumbai city will be sporadic in the initial next few days. The intensity of the rain is likely to be more frequent in the island city after June 8. It will because of the movement of the Southwest Monsoon along the western coast which is likely to be the cause of the increase in rains’ intensity over the coming weeks. However, the frequency of the pre-monsoon showers in the city is going to remain light until then.
Due to the weather conditions of late, it is likely that an upper air cyclonic circulation over Tamil Nadu would be drifting over the state of Telangana. The Skymet Weather in its recent forecast says that the cyclonic circulation had reached up to North Karnataka. It is highly likely that it will be moving more northwards and will be the cause of the increase in the intensity of rains in the Maharashtra region. In the last 36 hours, different regions of Maharashtra have received rainfall in unequal measures. While Chandrapur (32 mm) has experienced more consistent (and the maximum) rainfall in the last day or so, regions of Vengurla (30.4 mm), Sangli (28.5 mm) and Pune (25.3 mm) are next on the list, followed by Nanded (21 mm), Akola (15 mm), and Beed (14.2 mm). Well, the city of Mumbai received light rainfall in the evening hours, yesterday, it had recorded a meagre 0.3 mm of rain.
