It is the last day of campaigning for the Mizoram Assembly Elections 2018 today. Voting for the 40-seat Mizoram Assembly will take place on Wednesday, November 28.
Aizawl, November 26: Voting began on Wednesday for Mizoram Assembly Elections 2018. The results for the polls to the 40-seat Mizoram Vidhan Sabha will be declared on December 11. Mizoram has approximately 7.6 lakh registered voters who are set to cast their vote on Wednesday. Before heading to cast their votes, voters are required to check their names on the voter list online and take a print out of the voter slip. Voters casting their vote in the Mizoram Assembly polls can find their name on the voter list online on ceomizoram.nic.in. They can search the voter slip by their name or voter registration number and constituency. Here is how you can search your name on the voter list online and on your mobile phone:
- Go to ceomizoram.nic.in
- In the 'Electoral Rolls' drop-down on the top right of the page, click on 'Search Your Name'.
- This will redirect you to the National Voters' Services Portal page on electoralsearch.in
- Enter your particulars in the respective fields, the state, district and constituency where you vote.
- Fill the capture code and click on the Search tab.
- It will take you to a list of names. Click on 'View Details' tab with your name. This will take you to a page with all your details and an option to Print the voter slip.
The Congress has been in power in Mizoram for the past 10 years. While opinion polls have hinted towards a tight race between the Congress and the Mizo National Front, poll pundits also say that there is a possibility of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) creating a dent in the ruling party's vote share. Meanwhile, more than half of the 209 candidates contesting the November 28 Mizoram Assembly polls are multimillionaires and nine of the nominees face criminal cases. According to an analysis by election watchdog, the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR), a total of 116 candidates are multimillionaires.
The Mizo National Front (MNF) leads the list with 35, followed by the Congress with 33 and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) with 17 such candidates. MNF's Lalrinenga Sailo contesting from Hachhek in Mamit district is the richest candidate with assets in excess of Rs 100 crore.
The counting of votes for the Mizoram Assembly Elections will take place on December 11 along with the results of four other states going to polls - Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Telangana.
