#MeToo Movement in India: All About SHe-Box, Government of India's Online Platform For Complaints of Sexual Harassment at Workplace

The #MeToo movement has gained pace in India finally and women are coming out and speaking up against sexual harassment that they have faced or are facing at their workplaces. A huge number of women in the entertainment industry, the media, the advertisement industry and others have spoken out. But how do women ensure some or the other action or inquiry into their complaints? To make a proper channel for women to complain against sexual harassment at workplace, the Ministry of Women And Child Development had last year launched SHe-Box, a website for registering complaints of sexual harassment at workplace. #MeToo Movement: Maneka Gandhi Says 'Happy That It Started in India', Hopes It Won't Go Out of Control.

SHe-Box is a comprehensive online complaint management system for women working in both public and private organisations to lodge complaints of sexual harassment at workplace. How To Register Your Complaint

To register your complaint, go to the SHe-Box shebox.nic.in

On this page, click on the 'Register Your Complaint' tab. It will then ask you if you are a government employee or a private employee. Select the respective option.

You will then be redirected to a form where you would fill your details like name, company, phone number etc. and your complaint. This detail won't be made public in any way on the portal. #MeToo movement: Singer Raghu Dixit Accused of Sexual Harassment.

Once you have registered your complaint, you can also go back to the site and check the status of your complaint.

It also tells you what happens once you register a complaint and what kind of punishment can be awarded to the person found guilty.

Kerala Sees Most Cases Filed

A report in Manorama Online says that most complaints on the SHe-Box website had been registered from Kerala till February this year. According to an RTI query filed this year, the website had received 107 complaints till February this year. It says that while 34 complaints were from Central government establishments, 25 were from private organisations.  It also says that there were even complaints from Ministry of Defence, Commerce, Finance and Railways.
