New Delhi, February 5: Captain Kapil Kundu, who was killed in the heavy Pakistani shelling along the LoC in Poonch on Sunday left behind inspiring words on Facebook. Kundu, an Army Captain who was killed in the shelling with three others jawans was six days short of his 23rd birthday. Along with Captain Kundu, the martyred jawans have been identified as Rifleman Ramavatar, Rifleman Subham Singh and Havaldar Roshan.
Kundu would have turned 23 on February 10, the Army official said. A close look at Kundu’s Facebook post showed that he believed in ‘Life should be big, not long’- the famous quote that Rajesh Khanna says to Amitabh Bachchan in one of the most famous movies of Bollywood ‘Anand’.
Captain Kundu from Ransika village of Gurgaon district was killed when Pakistani forces opened unprovoked firing on Sunday along the LoC in Bhimbher Gali sector of Rajouri district this evening. In another incident that came into light on Sunday was that two teenagers and a jawan were injured in the Shahpur sector of Poonch district in the shelling from across the border. Shahid Choudhary, Deputy Commissioner, Rajouri said that all 84 Schools located in 0-5 KM along LoC from Sunderbani to Manjakote shall remain closed for next 3 days.
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti offered her condolences to the families of the martyred soldiers in a tweet. As per reports, the shelling from Pakistani forces started around 11.15 AM and spread across the Balakote sector in Mendhar and Manjakote. Reports further inform that the mortar shells were even aimed at near residential areas.
