Mumbai, June 13: Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, who is recovering from a cancerous disease, is likely to return to India this week. The mystery around the ailing chief minister just saw another twist in the tale, as BJP leaders were seen giving contradictory statements to the media in Panaji. As per a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA, Parrikar will mark his return to the state on June 15.
Talking to media in Panaji about Manohar Parrikar’s return to India, BJP MLA Nilesh Cabral said, “Parrikar is returning to Goa on June 15.” On the contrary, a senior BJP functionary informed that Parrikar was likely to return to Goa somewhere by the end of this month; however, his exact date wasn’t confirmed yet.
The BJP official said that the exact date of Parrikar’s arrival isn’t known yet and his return tickets haven’t been booked yet. “As a party, we do not know his exact date of arrival. Parrikarji is likely to come to Goa in June, but the tickets as far as we know haven’t been booked yet,” said the official requesting anonymity. The former Defence Minister was admitted in a US hospital in the month of March this year. The 62-year-old senior BJP leader had to be hospitalised in Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital thrice earlier this year and was also admitted in the Goa Medical College during mid-February.
