Mann Ki Baat: PM Narendra Modi Remembers Kalpana Chawla & Mahatma Gandhi During His 40th Edition of Radio Address
Narendra Modi said since ancient times India has been an inspiration to the world because of the respect accorded to her women, their status in society and their contribution.
New Delhi, January 28: In his first edition of monthly programme 'Mann ki Baat' of 2018, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday spoke about women empowerment and remembered astronaut Kalpana Chawla for her bravery and determination. Highlighting the achievements of women, PM Modi said women are not only moving forward but also leading in various fields setting new milestones. “Women are working and developing in every sector bringing honour and glory to India. India's Woman Power has contributed a lot in the positive transformation being witnessed in our country and society”, he said.
PM Modi said if India has to progress and reach new heights, it can only be possible only if and when women walk shoulder-to-shoulder with men. He said since ancient times India has been an inspiration to the world because of the respect accorded to her women, their status in society and their contribution. He said, "Many such women of letters have contributed to the composing of verses in the Vedas...Lopamudra, Gargi, Maitreyee...the list is long".
The Prime Minister also touched on a number of other topics during his address to the nation. PM Modi also spoke about Prakash Tripathi who has written a letter to him. Talking about Republic Day, the Prime Minister said that the highlight of the parade was the Daredevil BSF bikers Seema Bhawani contingent comprising all women participants. PM Modi said there’s now transparency in Padma awards. Anyone can nominate names and a common man can also be cited for Padma awards without any recommendations. He said, “On 30th January we observe the Punya Tithi of Bapu. Peace and non-violence is what Bapu taught us. His ideals are extremely relevant today”.
During his address, he also praised Bihar for organising Manav Shrinkla, a 13000 km long human chain to take an oath to fight social evil like dowry, domestic violence. He urged people to work for a New India congratulating CM Nitish Kumar, and people who participated in the chain. This is the 40th edition of the Mann Ki Baat programme which is being broadcasted on All India Radio (AIR), Doordarshan and also on the Narendra Modi mobile application. Akashwani will broadcast the programme in regional languages immediately after the Hindi broadcast.
In his 39th edition of 'Mann ki Baat' Prime Minister Modi had underlined his vision for ‘New India’ and invited people to join him in the journey of transforming the nation from a ‘Positive India’ to a ‘Progressive India’."A cleanliness survey will be conducted from January 4 to March 10, 2018, to evaluate achievements in the cleanliness level in our urban areas”, he had said.
