The 24.82-km-long Janakpuri West-Kalkaji Mandir stretch of the Delhi Metro is going to cut travel time between Noida and Gurugram by at least 30 minutes. Now the travelling between the regions will be 50 minutes.

The line will now bring domestic terminal of the city airport on the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) network. With the addition of Magenta line, the total length of DMRC network is now 277 km. Sixteen new stations are opened to the public. These new stations are: Janakpuri West, Dabri Mor, Dashrathpuri, Palam, Sadar Bazar, Terminal 1 - IGI Airport, Shankar Vihar, Vasant Vihar, Munirka, RK Puram, Hauz Khas, IIT, Panchsheel Park, Chirag Delhi, GK Enclave and Nehru Enclave.

The five-level new Hauz Khas station at 29 metres is the deepest metro station in the entire network. The major attraction of Majenta line is 15.6 meters long escalator on Janakpuri West Metro. It is as tall as five storey building.

With the opening of Magenta Line, the four Universities of Delhi are now connected with the metro network. The Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) are the institutions which get connectivity with the opening of the magenta line. Jamia Milia Islamia University in South Delhi and Amity University in Noida are connected to the metro network with the opening of the Botanical Garden Kalkaji Mandir section in December last year. Due to the connectivity of the national capital’s major universities, the entire corridor of these two metro lines is pitched as the ‘Knowledge Corridor’.
