Bhopal, November 26: Voting is underway for the Madhya Pradesh Assembly Elections 2018 on Wednesday. The battle for MP is being seen as a tight fight between the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress. Madhya Pradesh has over 5 crore eligible voters who are expected to cast their ballot today. Before heading to cast their votes, voters are required to check their names in the voter list and take a print out of the voter slip. Voters can check their names on the voter list online on Madhya Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) website ceomadhyapradesh.nic.in. Voter lists are available booth-wise and voters can also take prints of their voter slips from here. Here is how you can check your name in the voter list for Madhya Pradesh polls: MP Elections Complete Schedule.

  • Go to ceomadhyapradesh.nic.in
  • Click on the link that says 'Voter List'.
  • In the drop-down on the left-hand side of the page, select the district where you are voting along with the constituency.
  • The enter the capture code mentioned and click on Submit.
  • Click on the voter list of the polling station where your vote is registered. This will take you to the voter list where you can find your name and take a print of the voter slip.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has set up over 11,000 new polling booths in Madhya Pradesh, the maximum among the five states having assembly polls, as part of its efforts to ensure a high voter turnout during the elections. CEO VL Kantha Rao also said the state has witnessed more than double the seizure of suspect cash, drugs and other illegal inducements used to lure voters, as compared to the last polls of 2013.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is looking at a fourth term in the state. On the other hand, the Congress is confident of defeating the BJP in the state. The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) are also in the race in the state.

Meanwhile, opinion polls earlier this year have indicated a mixed picture in the state. While an ABP Opinion Poll indicated a victory for the Congress with 122 seats, a Times Now poll has predicted that the BJP will retain power in the state.
