Mumbai, June 03: Muthuvel Karunanidhi, fondly called as Kalaignar by his well-wishers, celebrated his 95th birthday on June 3. The former chief minister of Tamil Nadu was wished by politicians cut across party lines on his special day. People on social media too took turns in wishing the celebrated politician on his birthday. Not many know that Karunanidhi is also a screenwriter in the Tamil film industry. Rather, he began his career as a screenwriter early on. Karunanidhi was born on June 3, 1924, in Thirukkuvali village in Nagapattinam district in Tamil Nadu. He entered into politics at a very young age of 14. Currently, he is the leader of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) party based in the Southern state of Tamil Nadu.
Kalaignar, as he is lovingly called by his supporters, has been a five-time chief minister of the state; his first stint as CM began in the year 1969. On his 95th birthday, we wish M Karunanidhi, all the best in his future endeavours, and hope he remains in pink of his health!
