Love Jihad? Hindu Girl Eloped With Muslim Boyfriend in Surat; Hindu Jagaran Manch Presses Police to Bring Back Girl
The investigation carried out by the police so far reveals that the girl was in love with the man and she eloped willingly with him.
Mumbai, May 23: After a Hindu girl named Sejal from Surat eloped with a Muslim boy Mohammad Nawaz Hanif Malek, the local police are receiving pressure from girls family and Hindu Jagaran Manch who cries foul of 'Love Jihad'. The Hindu group are forcing police to bring back the girl. According to a report published in The Times of India, the investigation carried out by the police so far reveals that the girl was in love with the boy and she eloped willingly. Also, knowing that their family would oppose their relationship, the couple registered their marriage in a registrar office in Vyara almost a month ago.
The report further mentioned that Sejal submitted a letter that she wants to cancel her marriage registration. After that, she was sent to stay at Palsana from where she disappeared. The Police has started her search operation at various locations, but they failed.
While Kulin Pradhan, district coordinator of Hindu Jagran Manch (HJM) in Vyara said, "The girl was forcibly or by blackmailing taken along by the man. Therefore we have demanded the police to rescue her."
Meanwhile, the HJM along with other Hindu groups organised a rally in Vyara and also submitted a memorandum with the demand to bring back the girl. The groups to put pressure on police officials also held Ram Dhun - chanting mantras of Lord Rama outside Valod police station. The woman’s missing report is registered in Palsana police station but her home is in Valod of Tapi district, Surat, hence the family and Hindu groups took out a rally in Vyara with a demand that she should be brought back.
According to the report, Sejal, 22 years old girl eloped with a Muslim boy 25-years old named Nawaz on May 6. She became a friend in college at Bardoli, both fell in love two years back. After she eloped, a missing report in Palsana police station was registered by her family. In the missing complaint, the girl family has alleged that Sejal believed to have fled with Mohammad, a resident of Valod village.
