Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha to Observe Ram Navami; No Sitting of Parliament on Monday
There will be no sitting of both the Houses of Parliament on Monday on account of Ram Navami.
New Delhi, Mar 23: There will be no sitting of both the Houses of Parliament on Monday on account of Ram Navami.
Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan said in the Lok Sabha that she has agreed to the request of various MPs to declare a holiday on March 26 due to the festival and announced that the House would meet on Tuesday as she adjourned the proceedings for the day.
The Rajya Sabha will also not have its sitting on Monday and meet on Tuesday, an official communication from Rajya Sabha secretariat said this evening.
"The sitting of Rajya Sabha scheduled for Monday, March 26, 2018, has been cancelled. Accordingly, there will be no sitting on that day and the House will reassemble on Tuesday, March 27 at 11 AM," the communication said.
While adjourning the Upper House this morning, Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu had said it would meet on Monday. However, it was later decided that the sitting on Monday would be cancelled.
