Mumbai, June 08: The Central Railways in Mumbai have come up with an innovative idea to control the crowd at its railway stations during the monsoon season. The rail authorities on the Central line will be announcing train’s live running status to the people outside stations’ premises. Not only that, but it will also give updates on waterlogging.

The following move comes after the brief spell of pre-monsoon showers had disrupted the rail operations in last few days. The move to announce live updates about the weather conditions is undertaken to restrain the unruly crowd creating a mess at railway stations.

Usually, during the monsoon season, a lot of local trains are delayed and are unable to reach on their scheduled time. This delay causes a commotion in the railway premises, and the overly-filled platforms do create a ruckus at the station. To avoid such chaotic situations, the move to announce live updates about trains on the Central line should restore some calm.

A railway official said that the station masters on every railway station would be communicating the announcements of trains being delayed or not in operation. The updates will be given to the people outside the railway station premises.

Personnel from Railway Protection Force (RPF), Maharashtra Security Force (MSF), and home guards will be stationed at essential spots during the entire monsoon season.

As per the latest weather forecasts by India Meteorological Department (IMD) and SkyMet Weather, the Mumbai city is slated to receive moderate to heavy rainfalls in coming few days. The BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has roped in the services of Navy, to have a smooth passage of the torrential downpour in the city.
