An encounter breaks out today in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir.
A cordon and search operation was launched this morning in Badigam Imama Sahib in Zainapora area of the south Kashmir district. Terrorists fired upon the security forces. Two to three terrorists are believed to be trapped at the encounter site. One policeman and one army officer have been injured in the ongoing gunfight.
On Saturday, Taking a jibe at the Congress' losing streak in the state assembly elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, post-Karnataka polls the grand-old national party will become a regional one called PPP Congress - Punjab, Puducherry and Parivar Congress. Three LeT terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces in Chattabal area of Srinagar today. One civilian was also reported killed in clashes that erupted between protesters and security forces near the encounter site in the densely populated. One Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) officer was injured during the gunfight. He was rushed immediately to the hospital. The encounter broke out in the morning when security forces cordoned off the area after getting information about the presence of terrorists in the area. The state police and CRPF personnel conducted a joint operation.
