Pakistan's Federal Minister for Interior, Ahsan Iqbal, on Sunday survived an assassination attempt. He was fired upon by a gunman during a public meeting in Punjab’s Narowal town. On Saturday, Taking a jibe at the Congress' losing streak in the state assembly elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, post-Karnataka polls the grand-old national party will become a regional one called PPP Congress - Punjab, Puducherry and Parivar Congress. "After the Karnataka results, Congress will become PPP Congress- Punjab, Puducherry and Parivar Congress," the prime minister said at the rally here.

Rahul also hit back at Prime Minnister Narendra Modi. He posted a video on twitter question the PM over tainted BJP leaders. Rahul Gandhi demanded answers from Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) giving tickets to those allegedly involved in corruption, including its chief ministerial candidate B S Yeddyurappa. With only a week left for the Karnataka elections, the Congress president put out a video titled "Karnataka's Most Wanted" on his Twitter account to highlight the issue.

Three LeT terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces in Chattabal area of Srinagar today. One civilian was also reported killed in clashes that erupted between protesters and security forces near the encounter site in the densely populated. One Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) officer was injured during the gunfight. He was rushed immediately to the hospital. The encounter broke out in the morning when security forces cordoned off the area after getting information about the presence of terrorists in the area. The state police and CRPF personnel conducted a joint operation.
