JD-S leader H.D. Kumaraswamy on Saturday said that Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala has invited him to form a government in the state, following the resignation of B.S.Yeddyurappa-led BJP regime ahead of its trust vote. "The swearing-in ceremony will take place on Monday," Kumaraswamy told media after meeting Vala and staking the claim.

New Delhi, May 19: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday is scheduled to visit Jammu and Kashmir to launch several infrastructural projects. Ahead of the Prime Minister’s visit to the state, security has been beefed up and police force has been deployed to maintain law and order. The Prime Minister will inaugurate a hydroelectricity project and attend the sixth convocation of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-Jammu).

During his visit to the state, Prime Minister Modi will also attend the closing ceremony of the birth centenary celebration of the 19th Kushok Bakula Rinpoche in Leh. Prime Minister Modi will dedicate the 330mw Kishanganga Hydropower project to the nation, at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar.

Another major event of the day is the new Chief Minister of Karnataka, BS Yeddyurappa will face a floor test at 4 PM today. The Supreme Court on Friday ordered the floor test to be conducted tomorrow in the legislative assembly of Karnataka at 4 pm. To recall, Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala had given B S Yeddyurappa 15 days to prove his majority. The BJP is eight members short of the 112-majority mark in Karnataka but was invited by the Governor instead of the Congress-Janata Dal-Secular combine, which has 116 members.
