On Wednesday, M Karunanidhi, 94 was buried at Marina Beach in Chennai. His final journey began from Rajajji Hall at 4 pm. The burial took place at 7 pm. Lakhs of people participated in his final journey. He was buried in a golden casket - the inscription on which read: "the man who worked hard and never rested, is resting in peace here." The burial space where Karunanidhi's mortal remains were laid to rest is located adjacent to the mausoleum beneath which DMK founder and Dravidian icon C Annadurai was laid to rest.
Yesterday, a video went viral which showed how a group of Kanwariyas - saffron-clad on-foot pilgrims - smashed a car with sticks and turned it upside down. The car driver had, accidentally, brushed past them causing no injuries. Some reports claim he had slapped one of the Kanwariyas during the verbal altercation which led to the latter attacking his car.
At least four terrorists were gunned down by security forces in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla on Wednesday. Reports inform that the encounter broke out following information about the presence of militants in the area. The security forces then launched a search operation in the Rafiabad area of Baramulla district.

Maratha outfits have called for a ‘Maharashtra Bandh’ today. Due to the state-wide bandh called by Maratha Kranti Morcha over reservation demand in government jobs and education today, various services across the state are bound to be affected.
