New Delhi, July 31: In a year marked by elections, legislative polls to four assemblies - Meghalaya, Nagaland, Tripura and Karnataka - have been conducted. 2018 now awaits the high-voltage electoral battle in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan by the year-end.

Schedule and dates of the polls are awaited as the Election Commission of India is yet to the issue the notification. The polling body is likely to finalise the dates by September. Here are the key facts to know about the upcoming elections.

Rajasthan: As per the 2013 electoral roll, the state has a total of 6.83 crore registered voters. The legislative assembly in the state features 200 constituencies, spread across 33 districts. The incumbent ruling party in the state is the BJP, led by Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje.

Madhya Pradesh: Until the last elections, Madhya Pradesh's total electoral strength was 4.66 crores. The legislative assembly includes 230 seats. The BJP, which was in power since 2003, emerged victorious in the 2013 polls. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan was re-elected as the Chief Minister.

Chhattisgarh: The state ruled by BJP has a total voter strength of 1.68 crores, as per the electoral roll published in 2013. The legislative assembly is constituted by 90 elected members. Raman Singh is the incumbent Chief Minister.

The upcoming three-state assembly polls are considered to be the semi-finals ahead of the mega-electoral clash in 2019, when 543 seats of the Lok Sabha will be contested.
