The Central Government announced the completion of electrification of the country with Manipur's Leisang village from Churachandpur district connected to the national grid. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also tweeted that April 28 is a historic day regarding the development of the country. Every village in India has got electricity as promised. The Deendayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY) made it possible to complete this mission. A village is considered electrified if it has the basic electrical infrastructure and 10 percent of its households and public places which include schools, panchayat office and health centre have electricity.

Leisang village is located Churachandpur Tehsil of Churachandpur district in Manipur. It is 7kms away, from Churachandpur both district & sub-district headquarter of Leisang village.
According to 2011 census, the total population is 224 people. There are 98 males and 126 females in their total population. There are 38 houses in the village.
The nearest town to Leisang is Kwakta, it is approximately 6 kilometers away.
The literacy rate here is also very less. In 2011, the literacy rate of Leisang village was 40.00 % compared to 76.94 % of Manipur. The male literacy stands at 44.44 % while female literacy rate was 34.78 %.
The sex ratio states there are 1097 females per 1000 male in the village. Child sex ratio here has increased by 1647 girls per 1000 boys during the same time.
Leisang has 52% of its population engaged in work, either marginally or full-time. Among the women, most of them work in marginal tasks and not many pursue full-time working.
Connectivity wise, there are public bus services within 10 kilometers of the village.
Now as per the data given by the government, all 597,464 census villages in India have been electrified. In several villages, while electricity is made available, it is many a time not affordable to the people due to poverty. Illiteracy also plays a part since people are not aware of the proceedings.
